in response to Jaimee: One has to laugh, the questions are often answered very onesided, over 90% of responders feel strongly about these issues yet the people we keep putting in office to represent us just don't seem to be aware of how the people really feel. American democracy in action (or not).

My first response was to laugh and then the thought came to mind why is this question being asked at all!
Has anyone watch the movie 1984?
Is really important to have Obama's picture with every report? I think everyone knows what he looks like by now!
We need to be sure any laws or programs stick to the issue of guns and not be loaded with unrelated issues, as so often happens with the lawmakers of today. My question what has the dept of disease control have to do with gun control?

How about Davis and the Pubix shopping center? It is a accident waiting to happen everyday and I bearly survived one there in December 2010,and I am still in recovery. People speeding south(east) along Davis and people trying to get in or out of the shopping center is a major problem!
No one can appreciate more what this boy has andis going through then myself. In Dec 2010 I nearly lost my life and still am recovering from the damage done in a major auto accident. God bless you John.
I do agree that prices from comcast could certainly be better but my service problems with them have handled promptly and the operators have been very courteous. All companies have problems, dealing with Century LInk was a nightmare for me. They allowed a third party charge to our phone bill of 14.95 without checking with us. They agreed to take it off the bill and then charge a 5.00 late fee when they didn't remove in time for the payment due date. They will remove the fee but I must pay the entire bill this month to avoid their confusion and then they will give a credit next month. Not sure I would want cable service from them!!!!!

in response to AmericasTrueRecoveryBeginsIn2016: Sylvia DeFeo, Naples - The reason that there are so many people clamoring to feed at the public trough is that they are not held personally responsible for doing so. If the system were changed to make them personally responsible for accepting public assistance, I would lay odds that the number of people on the public rolls would drop significantly. The State of Michigan, under former Governor John Engler, came up with a pretty good system for people on public assistance at the state level. In fact, the system that he came up with was good enough that it got him onto the short list for Vice Presidential candidates when George W. Bush was running for the first time. Here's how Engler's system of reforms worked...: - In order to remain on state-level welfare, a recipient either had to be enrolled in college or trade school part time (a minimum of 8 credits per semester), be working part time (a minimum of 20 hours per week), or be looking for work full time (a minimum of 30 hours per week) and be able to document it. - The only way that a recipient was able to get any of these requirements waived was by having a doctor certify that they were either physically or mentally incapable of fulfilling any of them. And, then, they were required to have follow-up appointments with the same doctor twice a year to verify the diagnosis. - Additionally, once they began receiving welfare benefits, a recipient could be on welfare for no more than 24 consecutive months in any 60-month period, and for no more than 60 months total in any 120-month period. This program was very controversial at the time it was instituted, but it significantly reduced the number of people on state welfare by making them accountable for the benefits that they were receiving. The reason that Engler was considered as a V.P. candidate was because the Republicans were, at the time, considering introducing legislation in Congress to adopt similar guidelines at the federal level. Essentially, the message that was being sent was, "If you're not going to try to improve yourself, you don't get the money." A system like that, that makes people earn the benefits that they are receiving, is how you help control the number of deadbeats simply lying around waiting for that next government check. As a side note, it is rather interesting that the party who claims to hold personal responsibility as one of their paramount tenets is the same party that, since coming to power more than three years ago, has changed and extended the rules to allow more people than ever before in the history of this country to feed at the public trough with no hint of personal responsibility whatsoever for doing so.

sideshow, there are some real pepople here in Naples also, along with the entitled ones, who by the way can think for themselves not all of us are "gated" or protected from reality.
can someone please explain to me why in the world naples daily news.com continues to post the horrific details and photos of the murder of a woman and her 6 children on a daily basis as news? It is indeed a tragic, however to me it time to let the family's survivors heal.
Oops I meant Samuel

in response to keekee: Glenn Mueller I didn’t understand the point the first thousand times I heard it, nor do I understand it now. I do not equate Social Security or Medicare as a socialistic program because as a working individual, don’t I pay into it with every deduction from my paycheck? I kind of view it at an investment. Hope my investment pays off when the time comes.
