Spring training
The Chicago Cubs is considering a move from its current spring training home in Mesa, Ariz., to Collier County. Fifth Avenue Advisors has teamed up with Esmark, Inc., a Chicago-based company, to try and woo the team to Collier County. Team officials recently met with government officials, including Gov. Charlie Crist, to talk about a possible move to Florida. The team can opt out of its 20-year agreement with Mesa next year and leave the city by 2012 for $4.2 million.

- What are the odds Naples will get the Cubs? I'd say 60-40 against, but getting better every week. If both offers are essentially the same (giving the Cubs everything they want) this ultimately comes down to the tradition and history of the Cubs training in Arizona vs. the beaches, demographics and promise of Southwest Florida.
- How big will the stadium be? The Cubs current spring training home seats are over 12,000. The Cubs will likely want one as big or bigger. That would be the biggest spring training facility in the state.
- Where will the stadium be built? I don't know and I can assure you that right now "the group" doesn't either. Two things to keep in mind. Think infrastructure already in place that can handle the traffic, and location is not as important as financing.
