NAPLES _ Lennar Homes has paid $45 million for an assemblage of about 1,400 acres in Lee and Hendry counties.
The company is “still working out” what it will do with the property, said Matt Devereaux, director of sales for the builder.
The sellers were The Ronto Group, a Naples developer, and the Rockpoint Group in Boston, which bought the land for $18 million in May 2011 as a joint venture called RP Bonita Beach Road LLC.
About 550 acres just to the east of Village Walk on Bonita Beach Road are developable, according to Anthony Solomon, executive vice president of The Ronto Group.
About 210 acres more are lakes and preserve, said Shannon Densham, marketing director of Land Solutions, which brokered the deal.
She added the property was zoned for up to 1,900 residential units, including 333 active adult units.
Much of the acreage is currently cropland, public records say.
An additional 640 acres of farm land south of State Road 80 and east of State Road 29 in Hendry County was made part of the sale for off-site mitigation of Florida panther and black bear habitats.
