Mesca Damas, who confessed to killing his family in 2009, was treated for injuries following a fight in the Naples Jail Center last month.
Damas was accused by fellow inmates of attacking them in their housing area Oct. 9 shortly before 4 p.m., according to Collier County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Camera footage from the jail shows Damas punching two inmates. Three other inmates were involved in the scuffle. All but one was taken for medical evaluation.
Damas told jail workers he was trying to break up a fight between two other inmates.
“This all happened because they wanted the dude in cell 4 to fight and I tried to stop it,” Damas told deputies.
Disciplinary reports for Damas and two others were filed. One of the inmates Damas punched wants to file charges, according to reports.
Reports state that Damas was cooperative with jail workers following the fight.
Damas is awaiting trial for the death of his wife and five children.
