A Bonita Springs mother said her family is "numb" after Lee County sheriff's deputies discovered her daughter's body over the weekend.
"We're numb. I don't know what to say because I don't know what's happened myself," said Denise Miller, the mother of Darla Miller, 22, whose body was found near a trailer Saturday at 27966 Oakland Drive in Bonita Springs. Deputies found the body after responding to a 911 call around 8 a.m.
Denise Miller said she last saw her daughter on Thursday. Her daughter was happy and "normal" when she left the house last week, she said.
Fighting back tears, Denise Miller said she wants people to know her daughter was beautiful and had many friends.
"She wouldn't have brought harm to anybody," she said. "I don't know who would do this to her."
The Lee County Sheriff's Office did not release any additional details about Darla Miller's death Tuesday. Authorities have not said how they believe she died, but reported on Saturday that there is no reason to suspect the neighborhood is in any danger.
There have been no arrests in the case, the Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday.
Denise Miller shared a home with her daughter in the 25000 block of Stillwell Parkway, about 6 miles from where Darla Miller's body was discovered. Denise Miller said as soon as her daughter's body is released, they will begin funeral arrangements.
"We all just want peace," Miller said.
Authorities ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff's Office at (239) 477-1000. A cash reward of up to $1,000 may be available by calling Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477 (TIPS).

Sad, but these young man and woman want to search for excitement and an identity, often they select the wrong types of friends. the location where she was found speaks for itself. May the mother find the strength to survive this tragedy..instead of being mean, we should provide her with spiritual support

▲▲▲ NDN, is this necessary? Someone died here.
And this person claims to be a 'Christian' while taking the Lord's name in vain.

Regardless of circumstance, this really is a sad story. And I agree about the photo-- wasn't there another, nice picture posted earlier?
But I gotta ask, does a left wing liberal rag taste different than a right wing liberal rag?
I hope the family will find peace, and have the strength to carry on, one day at a time.

All of you should stop speculating and judging this girl. Her own mother said she does not know whats happened. So pray tell how in the world would all of you know? Let the police and coroners office do the investigating, and y'all take a nice rest.

My sincere condolnces to Denise Miller and family. Sorry for their loss. It's a terrible thing to lose a child and very difficult to get over. May Darla Miller rest in peace for eternity.

Wow... Had to be a mug shot... Even before they posted a picture I looked her up on Facebook... Oh wow and look her name pops right up... Other families u can take photos from their Facebook, but why not hers? Come on ndn have some kind of class... That's just rude...
backwoodsbarbie writes:
Well nevermind her page is no longer in search on Facebook, but really a mugshot?
Beachtowel writes:
Mugshot is classless. Well should be expected from this tabloid.

The function of a newspaper is to report the truth.
If that's too much for you, why not instead spend your time in Walgreen's reading the bogus sentiments printed inside the greeting cards there?

My condolences to the family.
NDN you continue to sink to new lows. A mugshot? Certainly you could do better.
LovesBS writes:
Life is not perfect and all endings are not happy.
The NDN should report the incident, eliminate use of mugshots and disable the comment section. Anything else opens the doors to imbecilic comments.
anotherPOV writes:
You mean like an imbecilic comment from someone who thinks comments shouldn't be allowed but takes the time to post anyway.

I expresed myslef about my opinion on the last post and i was attacked by a mob of savage wolfs. it seams like we are in a communist country where expressing your own ideas can get you in "trooble"

If you're under 28 around here you probably have a mug shot. It's the way we operate. She was definitely at the wrong place at the wrong time. God bless her and her family.

I should have said "if you're under 28 and not related to anyone 'special' you probably have a mug shot..."

It's good that NDN prints a photo of the victim. It may help with the investigation. It's sad that people post disrespectful, hurtful comments when a poor girl has died and a mother is grieving.

My daughter's boyfriend of 4 years died last year in a horrible accident and everyone was able to post anything they wanted. I didn't tell my daughter what was being said because I know it would have hurt her and it hurt me to read some of the comments. People are so mean and nasty. Does NDN randomly pick articles you can and can't comment on?
EnoughCorporateGreed (Inactive) writes:
Your "left-wing liberal rag" endorsed Romney, right? What say you now?
brighteyes writes:
Yes they do. My son was arrested a few years ago for a terrible crime he did not commit. It was reported in the NDN and the comments were horrific even though my son had never committed a crime in his life. When an NDN reporter who had followed the case finally reported who actually committed the crime, the comments were disabled. I was told at the time to not read the comments. But, of course, I did. I did not even know at that time about the NDN comments. I have been posting ever since. May this young woman rest in peace and may the authorities investigate and find out what happened to her. My heart goes out to her mother.

It was your complete oblivious comments that made your first post so horrid. And then the fact that you cannot spell "seems", just irritates and aggravates the normal people.
I reallly hope you are punkin me, because I do not know how to explain how callous and illiterate you are.
Tell me you are a joke? Please tell me your posts were sarcasm!
