Pelican Bay man killed in motorcycle crash on I-75

NAPLES — A 65-year-old man who lived part-time in Pelican Bay and Pennsylvania died from injuries he received in a motorcycle crash Tuesday night on Interstate 75 in Collier County.

George B. Sordoni, of Dallas, Pa., died at Lee Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in the 9:44 p.m. crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Sordoni was riding a 2012 BMW K1600 GTL motorcycle eastbound on I-75 when he drove off the right side of the interstate and struck a concrete support post beneath the Santa Barbara Boulevard overpass, the FHP reports.

Traveling east on I-75, the overpass is directly after the curve where the north-south interstate turns east to traverse the state as Alligator Alley.

Very few facts here.

You clearly never knew George or his great family. The world lost a great man today who was an incredibly successful businessman, a huge volunteer and most of all a loving husband and father to 4 of the most beautiful children you will ever meet. Here is a little more about George since you seem to not know much about him...may he rest in peace

That's too bad; condolences to the family. An 18 year old kid died at that same spot a couple of years ago.

Two possible scenarios, either someone cut him off or a tire blew up. Its the only 2 things I can think of. But it doesn't matter now. A life was lost. A son, a husband, a father. May he rest in peace.

This is sad news. Not to mention the massive tax base our town will be losing from Pelican Bay now.
