Marco Island man arrested, accused of flashing gun

A Marco Island man accused of flashing a gun during an argument was arrested Friday.

Curtiss Wold, 46, of the 1100 block of Edington Place, faces a charge of aggravated assault, as well as one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

A caller summoned Marco Island police to an Edington Place motel around 9:30 p.m. Friday, saying that during an argument with Wold, the suspect lifted his shirt to display a handgun, according to a statement released Saturday by the Marco Island Police Department.

He then pointed the weapon at the caller and several other people, the caller said.

Police saw Wold drop a loaded .380 caliber gun from a second story balcony at the scene shortly before he was arrested, according to the statement.

Man jailed, charged with striking homeowner during burglary

A Marco Island home invasion turned violent Saturday and landed a man in jail.

Tyler Murphy, 19, of the 1500 block of Villa Court, Marco Island, was arrested by Marco Island police around 1 a.m. following a call about a burglary on Winterberry Drive.

He is accused of stealing a laptop from a home and committing battery against the homeowner and the man's two adult sons.

Police arrived to find Murphy lying on the home's driveway next to a vehicle, but he stood and ran away, according to a statement released Saturday by the Marco Island Police Department.

Officers pursued Murphy through the neighborhood, locating him after he tried to enter a second home on the street, the statement said.

He also attempted to fight police, kicking the interior of the patrol vehicle and trying to escape, police said.

Murphy faces charges of burglary, grand theft, battery, criminal mischief, and resisting law enforcement officers with violence.

He is a documented gang member in Collier County with several arrests as an adult, according to the police statement.

Drug arrest

■ Eddie Porter, 54, of the 3400 block of Carson Lake Circle, Immokalee, was arrested Friday by Collier deputies. He faces five felony drug charges related to marijuana and cocaine possession, and a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Fraud arrest

■ Arthur Callier, 50, of the 1400 block of 5th Avenue North, Naples, was arrested Friday by Collier deputies. He is accused of defrauding a customer of around $1,000 through the staffing company for which he worked by forging signatures on work orders, a report said. Fraud under $20,000 is a felony charge.

DUI arrests

■ Liana Baily, 41, of the 4200 block of 30th Avenue Southwest, Golden Gate, was arrested Friday by Collier deputies at the intersection of 47th Street and 25th Avenue Southwest.

■ Rachael Summerson, 29, of the 13000 block of Waterbury Court, Fort Myers, was arrested Friday by Collier deputies at the 200 block of Newport Drive. She faces two DUI counts, and an additional charge of leaving the scene of a crash after a witness told investigators that Summerson rear-ended a vehicle driven by a pregnant woman, according to an arrest report.

■ Bruce Ford, 49, of Canada, was arrested Friday by Collier deputies at an entrance to the Mercato shopping complex in North Naples.

■ Jessica Busse, 23, of the 4000 block of Bayshore Drive, East Naples, was arrested Friday by Florida Highway Patrol troopers at the intersection of Collier Boulevard and Utilities Drive. She faces additional misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
