Ave Maria University's Cheyenne Benson was named to The Sun Conference all-conference softball team.
Benson, a freshman catcher from Lakeland, hit .369 with nine doubles, four homers and 14 RBIs -- all team highs -- for the Gyrenes.
Beth Vaccarezza, a sophomore from California, was named to the conference's all-academic team. Vaccarezza was 6-11 with a 3.28 ERA, 10 complete games and a shutout this season.
The Gyrenes' season ended with a 3-1 loss to St. Thomas in the conference tournament Saturday. Ave Maria was 11-24.
