Picture this.In downtown Naples there is a public display of photographs (samples are on this page) that chronicle our area's history.
It is sponsored by Naples Backyard History, whose mission is to "ensure our unique cultural history is accessible as we promote, preserve and provide educational experiences to the residents and visitors of Naples and Collier County."
The Naples Backyard History Old Naples Museum is at 1170 Third St. S., Suite C-111, in the plaza facing Broad Avenue South.
Summer hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There is a special treat on Thursday evenings — aerial photography exhibit docent talks with Art Ullmann from 6 to 9 p.m.
Ullmann has been building this collection and display for the last 12 years and has been a major contributor to the Daily News' Sunday "Looking Back" feature.
His collection features aerials made from 1940 to 1970 by Roy Caple Sr., who now lives in Estero.
Overall, the museum display traces Naples history starting in 1885.
There is no charge for admission.
