Florida Gulf Coast University basketball players picked up a pair of awards, with junior Sherwood Brown being named the Atlantic Sun’s men’s player of the week, while women’s hoops forward Whitney Knight was named the league’s newcomer of the week.
Brown averaged 16.3 points and 9.7 rebounds as the Eagles went 2-1 with wins over Longwood and Kennesaw State and a loss to Mercer.
Brown leads FGCU in scoring (12.4 points per game) and rebounding (5.9).
In women’s basketball, Knight helped lead the Eagles to wins over Mercer and Kennesaw State by averaging 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists.
