Naples-area gas prices rise, hold steady

— Average retail gasoline prices in Naples have risen 2.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.56 per gallon Sunday.

Local gas prices Sunday were 38.4 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 14.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average for gas increased 0.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.34 per gallon, according to NaplesGasPrices.com. The national average has increased 11.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 25.3 cents per gallon higher than one year ago.

"We saw oil prices fall gently late last week as tensions with Iran seemingly have cooled somewhat," said Patrick DeHaan, gasbuddy.com senior petroleum analyst. "I'm certainly hopeful that the recent easing in tensions between Iran and the West continues in coming months, but there are certainly no guarantees and few expectations of such. Having said that, I expect gasoline prices to move very little in the next week, and in some areas of the U.S. gasoline prices may fall this week."

If people are whining about gas prices perhaps they should have gotten a better education and a better career and then, maybe, they would have the pay grade that would make high gas prices someone else's problem.

So,when folk's can't afford to pay for gas, who's fault is that?

While pondering that quandary, let's take a quick look at what's driving gas prices up to where they are today,Iran's nuclear ambitions, with U.S. lead sanctions on Iran, one of the world's largest suppliers of fossil fuels, along with the tensions they've cause in the world's oil market,we should be expecting an increase in fuel prices,if folk's don't want Iran's nuclear ambitions to bring uncertainty to the oil market, perhaps we should mind our own business for a change,or accept the fact that we've caused the very situation that is responsible for the rise in fuel prices and stop whining.

If Iran having a nuclear weapon scares you, then you should have no problem whatsoever when it comes to paying for higher priced gasoline, that's the cost of diplomacy.

Meanwhile,Iran HAS signed the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and is still claiming that their nuclear program is for civilian use only, while Israel,on the other hand, you know, the country that's afraid Iran will get the bomb, refused to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and is currently attempting to deny that they have nuclear weapons, when,in fact, they do have nuclear weapons.

One more thing, the Israeli people couldn't care less if the son of your cosmic superhero plans to make his encore appearance in their country,THEY'RE JEWISH!

I am concerned about the rising gas prices as it effects all segments of the ecomomy. I want discussions and solutions on items like this. I don't want to hear about Romneys tax return and Newt's marriages. This does nothing to make my life better.

First,I live in Naples year round, second, after twenty years in the asphalt paving business,I have plenty of my own money and after 45 years in the printing business,so does my father and mother, they just returned from a cruise to Italy Saturday and just like me,they don't fret over high gas prices,as a matter of fact, they don't fret over the cost of much of anything!

Anyway, walking is good for you, just think, that perfectly avoidable case of diabetes that was quickly creeping up on you may not become symptomatic until you reach your forties!

Here is Obama's argument FOR higher gas prices, banning drilling in the Gulf, killing plans for the pipeline, looks like its all part of the plan people...

Obama wants $5.00 or more per gallon gasoline.

He just doesn't want oil companies to profit as a result of high gasoline prices.

Obama wants gasoline prices high so ordinary people won't be so wasteful of gasoline by using it frivolously, such as traveling for holidays and on vacations or even to the grocery store.
