EAST NAPLES — An East Naples cleaning lady was arrested on a grand theft charge involving a jewelry heist Friday after showing up to the client's home with a diamond engagement ring still on her hand.
A Collier deputy had to use soap to remove the ring, which was stuck on April Louise Reiss’ finger.
Reiss, 24, of the 100 block of Lakeside Drive, who told deputies her name was Aprill, was booked into the county jail Friday on a third-degree felony charge. Court records show her rap sheet includes two convictions for petty theft and arrests accusing her of attempted robbery and two batteries.
An arrest report gives this account:
A deputy drove to the Royal Wood neighborhood in East Naples, where he found the woman and her employer. The employer told deputies he'd hired Reiss three weeks ago and had received a call from the client who complained she was missing jewelry that she keeps in a box in her dresser's top drawer.
Knowing Reiss had just cleaned the home that day, the employer contacted Reiss and asked her to meet him at the client's home. When she arrived, the employer noticed she was wearing one of the rings the client had described and the client then verified it was hers.

Good point, but all you can find out for free is past addresses and old phone numbers. What site to you go to to get a real background check for free? These homeowners need to wise up. Take five minutes and put your valuables in a box in the trunk of your car. It's hard to wear a flatscreen tv on your finger.

I resent these types of cleaning people. As someone who cleans houses, and is honest, no one wants this person under the jail more than me. It hurts the client and the profession I chose to work. I work hard and am proud of my accomplishments at the end of the day. I am sorry that there are others who do this and take advantage. But on behalf of those like me, we are not all like that person IMO, I hope she gets the max sentance for betraying trust.
