A 17-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle and killed Wednesday night on U.S. 41 in Estero, just north of the Coconut Point mall.
The teen, whose name was not immediately available, was hit around 8 p.m. near the intersection with Sweetwater Ranch Boulevard, Lee County Sheriff’s Lt. Larry King said. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Details about how the crash occurred were not immediately available. A traffic homicide investigator was working at the scene late Wednesday.

Rest in Peace young lady. I heard the call come in around 7:30p.m. at my workplace. So sad, it's VERY dark at that point of the road and difficult to see pedestrians at 55+ mph. May God rest your soul.
