In January, contractors pulled 35 permits to build single-family homes with a total value of more than $7 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 34 permits issued in January of last year and six issued in December 2011.
Permits were issued for four multifamily units in January, compared to eight in the same month a year ago and six in December.
Permits for 16 new commercial buildings were valued at nearly $23.9 million in January, including a $20 million, three-story office complex at the Chico's headquarters on Metro Parkway.
In January 2011, commercial permits were valued at nearly $5.4 million. In December, commercial permits were valued at nearly $7.1 million.
In January, Lee County Community Development issued 2,433 permits of all kinds.
