How the teams were chosen
Athletic directors from the 13 schools — Barron Collier, Community School, Estero, First Baptist, Golden Gate, Gulf Coast, Immokalee, Lely, Naples, Palmetto Ridge, Seacrest, St. John Neumann and South Fort Myers — in the Daily News' coverage area were contacted and asked to have their coaches nominate players. That information, along with all-conference and all-district honors and postseason performances, were used to make up the teams.

Billy Crook Offensive player of the year for the entire area???? He might only be the 4th or 5th best offensive player on Naples, and quite possibly, only their 2nd best quarterback....... Comical to say the least.

I think it ends up being that they don't want the same player to win the Broxson and win the POTY as well. Or else Brian Rolle, Carlos Hyde, Javarris James, etc. would have probably gotten them both, like Johnson would have this year.
