Reservations needed for Collier's senior meal program

COLLIER COUNTY — Due to high demand, reservations are now encouraged for the Collier County Senior Meal Program at Golden Gate Community Center. Individuals who make reservations are guaranteed a meal; individuals who do make reservations are served if food is available. The Housing and Human Services Department expanded the program to the Golden Gate location at 4701 Golden Gate Parkway in May and reservations can be made by calling (239) 537-9141.

“We are thrilled at such a big response to the new meal site at Golden Gate Community Center,” said Marcy Krumbine, housing and human services director. “We want to make sure, however, we have enough food for every person that shows up and reservations will assist us with meeting demand.”

The senior meal program serves hundreds of people hot, nutritious meals each week.

In addition to the Golden Gate Community Center, Housing and Human Services also provides congregate meals at two other locations East Naples Community Park located off Thomasson Drive and the Roberts Center in Immokalee. Reservations are also encouraged for the East Naples and Immokalee meal sites. There are no income qualifications to receive lunches, however seniors must be 60 years or older.
