And here comes the postseason

Golf teed off Monday and swimming is diving into the postseason today. Many of the area teams are still alive after districts, so it will be interesting to see how golfers from Southwest Florida will fare on the fairways with the best in the state.

As for the gridiron, despite being Friday the 13th, this week's matchups are anything but unlucky. Some local rivalries are heating up as the younger teams in the area are proving they can hold their own with the county veterans. Gulf Coast didn't pull the upset shocker against Immokalee like last year, but Golden Gate has as good as a chance as any to deliver this strong Indians team its first loss of the season.

Palmetto Ridge's overtime win against Key West last week proves that the Bears are fighting to be contenders making this Friday's game against Lely anything but a gimme win for the Trojans.

We have some new faces in the Broxson Watch this week with standout performances from Estero quarterback Caleb Nemitz and Neumann's Jesse Davis. The Broxson newcomer, Nemitz, is leading this week's votes along with Immokalee's Carl Elie.
