Mission: Hobbies, adventures, pursuits – these are the themes of my little columns. Probably for many – and certainly for me – the secret hope is that a simple posting actually advances civilization and changes the world. As to the quote attributed to Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Ah so….. maybe the reader at first frowns with disdain, then grimaces with intrigue and finally smiles in amazement that it just could be. We shall see.     In the nature of Naples Center for Critical Thinking we have now started the same type club on Marco Island. We are in the early stage but certainly will grow and learn. The name for the club is, perhaps unique, Point … Counterpoint.

    Next club meeting, open to all, is on Wednesday February 29, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:30 at the YMCA on Marco Island.

    The hot topic is The 99% vs. 1% - Is it real? Is this class warfare? How is this debate affecting America?
